Miki Sudo and Joey Chestnut Win 2023 Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest Titles

July 4, 2023, Coney Island, Brooklyn, NY – Miki Sudo and Joey Chestnut each defended their titles in the annual Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest on a rainy Coney Island.

Chestnut, who holds the world record of 76 hot dogs and buns consumed in 10 minutes and has won the men’s competition 15 times including the past 5, gulped down 62 weiners this year, beating second-place finisher Geoffrey Esper by 13 hot dogs.

Despite the rain and cool conditions – a stark contrast to last year’s 90-degree heat – this year’s event still drew thousands of hot dog enthusiasts to Surf Avenue. For the major competitive eaters, however, the weather provided some relief. Miki Sudo, who previously held the world record for women with 48.5 hot dogs and buns consumed in 10 minutes, defended her title, downing 40 hot dogs and buns on Wednesday.
