Manchester City V Chelsea Champions League Final

CHELSEA CROWNED CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE

Blues secure second Champions League title with 1-0 win over Man City

Kai Havertz's first-half strike proved to be the difference as Chelsea lifted the Champions League trophy for the second time.

The Blues produced a battling display to overcome a resilient Manchester City at the Estadio do Dragao in Porto, with Havertz's 42nd-minute goal separating the two sides.

The win sees Chelsea claim their first major trophy under manager Thomas Tuchel, who has overseen a remarkable turnaround in fortunes since taking charge in January.

It is also a significant triumph for owner Roman Abramovich, who has invested heavily in the club since buying it in 2003.

Chelsea's victory was built on a solid defensive performance, with Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger particularly impressive at the back.

Edouard Mendy also made a number of important saves, including a stunning stop to deny Riyad Mahrez in the second half.

At the other end, Chelsea's attackers were largely kept quiet by City's well-organized defense.

However, Havertz made the most of a rare opportunity when he latched onto a pass from Mason Mount and slotted the ball past Ederson.

City pushed for an equalizer in the second half, but Chelsea held firm to secure a famous victory.

The Blues will now be looking to build on their success in Europe by challenging for the Premier League title next season.

Havertz hails 'amazing' Champions League triumph

Kai Havertz has hailed Chelsea's Champions League triumph as an "amazing" achievement.

"It's an amazing feeling," he said after the game.

"We worked so hard for this moment and we finally did it.

"I'm so proud of my team-mates and the staff. We all believed in ourselves and we never gave up.

"This is a dream come true for me.

Havertz's goal was his first in the Champions League this season, and he was delighted to have played such a crucial role in Chelsea's victory.

"It was a great feeling to score the winning goal," he said.

"I just wanted to help the team and I'm glad I could do that.

"This is a special moment for me and I'll never forget it.
