American Teenager Dies in Tragedy
Three people, including a teenager from the US, have been killed in an avalanche near the Swiss Alpine ski resort of Zermatt, police said Tuesday.
GENEVA (Reuters) – An American teenager and two other people were killed in an avalanche near the Swiss resort of Zermatt, police said Tuesday. The avalanche occurred at Riffelberg, near the resort, at around 3:20 p.m. local time (1420 GMT), police said. The victims were part of a group of six skiers who were caught in the avalanche. Three of the skiers were able to escape unharmed, while the other three were buried in the snow. Rescue workers were able to dig out the three buried skiers, but they were pronounced dead at the scene.
